Our deacons are the servant leaders of the church, just as scripture illustrates in Acts 6:1-6. Our deacons are selected upon the basis of the instructions given in 1 Timothy 3:8-13. We are blessed that our deacons lead in the discipleship growth of our church family (2 Timothy 2:1-2).

The image above was taken in our fellowship hall on the stage stairs in the early months of 2019 during one of our many events held in the hall.  All four men were serving others and the Lord during this event.

Our church currently has four deacons who serve the congregation.  In the photo above, Kevin Eldridge is pictured in the back.  Ed Rockwell is on the left and Tim Moore on the right of the middle row.  Bruce Karcher is pictured on the front row.

Kevin has served as deacon longest at Sligo, beginning his service in August of 1998.  Both his grandfather and father were deacons at Sligo Baptist Church.

Ed Rockwell became a deacon at Sligo in early spring of 2018.  Ed has served the Lord in many other ways (previously ordained a deacon) and at other churches before attending Sligo.

Tim became a deacon in April of 2010.  Both his grandfather and father were deacons at Sligo Baptist Church.

Bruce Karcher became a deacon at Sligo in early spring of 2018.  Bruce has served the Lord as a deacon in another church prior to attending Sligo.  He is also very mission oriented and serves the Lord with evening services at the Kentucky State Reformatory in LaGrange.

These four men work very well together and more importantly have a strong desire and passion to serve the Lord through servant leadership at Sligo Baptist Church.
