God’s Voice thunders and the earth melts!
God tells us about Himself in His word. The statement above is from Psalm 46 which follows this paragraph. Please read it. God’s words are much more valuable than mine. This time in which we are living is like nothing any of us have seen before. Our lives will be changed from this experience. Will the change for you be turning to the God who loves you no matter what? Read Psalm 46 here, and then keep reading your Bible. If you don’t have one, send me an e-mail, I’ll get you one. Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.
3 Let the oceans roar and foam.
Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! Selah
4 A river brings joy to the city of our God,
the sacred home of the Most High.
5 God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed.
From the very break of day, God will protect it.
6 The nations are in chaos,
and their kingdoms crumble!
God’s voice thunders,
and the earth melts!
7 The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
the God of Israel is our fortress. Selah
8 Come, see the glorious works of the Lord:
See how he brings destruction upon the world.
9 He causes wars to end throughout the earth.
He breaks the bow and snaps the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
11 The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
the God of Israel is our fortress. Selah
What a blessing it is for my wife Judy, and me to have answered God’s call to serve Him here at Sligo Baptist Church! The Body of believers here at Sligo have a long history of open doors. When you come to check us out, you will find the most warm and welcoming church there is anywhere. One thing I must emphasize is that we do not allow perfect people here. So, if you’ve got your life completely figured out . . . well, you probably don’t need the Love of God that you will find here, but I’d still like to meet you.
We want to invite you, just as you are, to join us next Sunday for worship at 11 AM. We sing to glorify God, and we eagerly look into His word for the stuff that will get us through each day in a way that pleases our mighty creator God. We invest time in meaningful prayer that we know God will honor and answer. So, come and join us so you can experience the great things that God is doing here at Sligo.
The mission that our church has adopted is straight from God’s word. In the Bible, Christ lays out a plan for us that is unlike any rule, or requirement, or guideline from any other faith. We are commanded to Love God and Love Others. Now, that is a command that we can joyfully carry out. Then, a few pages after that, Christ tells us to Share the Good News of His grace and mercy as we go out to meet people Face-to-Face. When we truly believe that Christ’s grace is sufficient to make up for all of our mistakes and wrongdoings, we become Confident in Christ as we interact with our Neighbors and family. It is truly wonderful to have the kind of hope that only comes through a relationship with Christ Jesus.
Come and meet a family of believers that try hard to live according to God’s truths, while we encourage each other to live lives that please God each day. You’ll find that being a part of a family like ours, is where peace, joy, and hope begin.
